The Costa Dorada has more than 200 kilometres of beautiful Sandy beaches making it a favourite holiday destination for many Europeans.
Costa Dorada translates as Golden Coast where the name derives from the shiny golden sand on the beaches. Many of the beaches have received the Blue Flag award, an award only given to beaches of a very high standard in Spain.
In high season the Costa Dorado gets crowded and in towns like Salou the population can go from 15,000 people to around 250,000. Salou has been a very popular resort for many years and offers all types of accommodation to its tourists.
For nature lovers and wildlife enthusiasts you can visit the Delta of the River Ebro which also has a bird sanctuary that provides protection for many species.
Costa Dorado starts at Barcelona and reaches to Tarragona in the north east of Spain. Tarragona is famed for its International Dixieland Festival where hundreds of concerts are performed, it has all the tourist trappings such as good seafood restaurants, bars and a vibrant life.
The Costa Dorado also has the popular Port Aventura, a magnificent theme park which attracts visitors far and wide, its suitable for all the family and an excellent choice for holidays.
