The Costa del Sol or “the sunshine coast” is one of the most popular holiday destinations in Spain, it is also home to many expats of different nationalities. Many Spanish people from the cities inland also have holiday homes here.
Because of the tourism figures on the Costa del Sol the infrastructure and facilities is highly advanced and efficient. Places like Marbella and Puerto Banus attract many film stars and celebrities many of which also own a home there.
Malaga Airport Costa del Sol
Malaga airport has recently undergone some massive changes to cope with the popularity and caters to more than 12 million passengers a year. Most of the budget airlines fly into Malaga from many international airports.
Malaga is the capital of Andalusia and is a bustling city with lots of history, there is always something to do or somewhere to go in Malaga from the Picasso museum, fine restaurants and tapas bars to a day on the lovely beach overlooking the sea port where many of the worlds cruise liners dock and offload their passengers for day trips.
Malaga is also linked by a rail system from the rest of Spain and has an excellent local rail system connecting Fuengirola, Benalmadena, the airport and all places in between. When in Malaga be sure to see the Gilbralfaro castle and the Alcazabar fort, the Alcazabar fort was built hundreds of years ago by the Moors and is definitely worth a visit.
