Costa Blanca Spain
The Costa Blanca
The Costa Blanca, also known as the White Coast, is one of the most popular tourist areas in Spain, mainly due to its magnificent white sandy beaches.
The Costa Blanca is in the province of Alicante and consists of around 200 km of Mediterranean coastline, though its borders are not strictly defined.
By far the most popular resort is Benidorm, which is very commercialised with high rise hotels, animal parks, and other entertainments.
Benidorm has attractions to suit all age groups, from children to OAPs. In the summer most of the visitors are young Brits, whilst the low season is appealing to older couples wanting to escape the north European winter for some winter sun.
The resort has three blue flag beaches, lots of entertainment, countless bars, restaurants, discos and the Terra Mitica theme park which is one of Spain’s most visited tourist attractions.
Benidorm is a paradise for golfers, sun worshippers and party people including families and fun loving 18-30s. There are big brash resorts with skyscrapers and night clubs, and yet in contrast there are mountain villages where life hasn’t changed for years.
Denia is in the most northern part of the Costa Blanca and although it only has a resident population of around 40.000 this figure greatly increases during the summer months with tourists. The northern part of Denia attracts families for the 20 km of coastline and fine sandy beaches together with the fishing harbour. Denia is steeped in history with its castles and remains built by the Romans and for the adventurous from here you can take the ferry across to the Balearic Islands.
The tourist industry has made Torrevieja one of the largest and fastest growing areas of Spain.
It has nature parks, salt lakes and coves that surround the town and is well connected by many main roads.
Other towns on the Costa Blanca are Javea, Moraira, Benitachell and Benissa. All of them are within easy reach of fantastic beaches and can boast some of the best weather in Europe.
